Historical Notes: Yorktown (Section I) advanced to the NYS championship game by defeating Manhasset, 9-6, before 2,600 fans at Hofstra University. Jim Gilman made 15 saves and midfielder Jim Hoynes had three assists for the Cornhuskers. Manhasset took a brief 3-2 lead early in the third quarter on the second of Nick Rae's goals, but Yorktown (21-1) scored the next four goals, two by attackman Sean Bolger, to take control of the game.
