Historical Notes: Elmont defeated Sewanhaka 11-7 to win the 1980 Nassau championship. Leading 6-3 at halftime, the Spartans scored three consecutive goals in the first 2:30 of the third quarter to create an insurmountable 9-3 advantage. Senior goalie Steve Panico of Elmont was named the game MVP after making 18 stops, including several late in the third quarter. Junior Frank Tashman scored three straight goals in the fourth for Sewanhaka, but it was too little too late for the Indians.
