Saturday: Garden City Wins in OT
Great Neck 18, Valley Stream 3: Ten different players scored goals for Great Neck. It was a great defensive day for Stefano Kwon, Tristan Harrison, Max Levinson and Safeer Khan along with outstanding goaltending by Robin Varughese 8s/3ga = 73% (48 mins) to secure the win. Michael Azatyan and Chase Mei scored their first career goals. Junior midfielder Shaun Torchenaud (1g-1a) led the scoring for Valley Stream, and senior long stick middie Mohammed Daffalla scored his first Varsity goal, while playing both ends of the field. Uniondale 3, Clarke 14: Leading the scoring for Clarke (3-1) were junior midfielder Lucas Barsuaskas (3g-3a), senior midfielder Gabriel Cobham (2g-4a), senior A/M Justin Somyak (4g-1a), and senior midfielder Aidan Peters (2g-2a) In the goal for Clarke was senior Joseph Buffolino with 8s/3ga = 73% (48 mins). West Hempstead 6, Elmont 11: In the hard fought game between Elmont and West Hempstead, West Hempstead was down early 6-1, before rallying to close the gap to 7-4 at half but ultimately falling short. Mineola 13, Plainview JFK 9: Tommy Renner scored five goals and added two assists to lead Mineola in the championship game of the first annual Mineola Classic tournament.
