Week Two Review

Last week was the first full week of games in Nassau and at this point, every team has played at least one game and some have played up to four!
Looking Back
On Monday, there were three games that went to overtime, with South Side defeating Port Washington 10-9 with Cole DiPierto doing the heroics there, Lynbrook over Bethpage 6-5, and Plainview JFK besting Jericho 12-11.
Tuesday saw Farmingdale defeat Cold Spring Harbor behind 11 saves from Mike Ippoliti and Carey defeating Long Beach with sophomore Christian Todaro tallying five goals.
One of the busiest days of the week was Wednesday, with sixteen games played. Stevie Finnell scored four goals to lead Garden City over Syosset 11-8, and Aiden Garvey led New Hyde Park with seven goals and four assists in the win over Great Neck North. Manhasset held South Side to only one goal in their victory over the visiting Cyclones. Meanwhile, Nassau split against their Catholic League rivals with Wantagh downing Kellenberg 13-9 and Chaminade defeating Massapequa 15-9.
Calhoun was the big winner on Thursday, bombing Island Trees 18-10 and Mineola beating New Hyde Park with six points from Michigan-bound Tommy Renner.
Friday saw a full slate of games, with Wantagh the big winner by way of defeating Farmingdale, 11-6. Oceanside had a big fourth quater to squeeze by MacArthur 10-9, and Rolsyn had a good win over Carey 13-7. The big scorer of the day was Daniel Perlman who had ten goals and an assist for Great Neck North in their loss to Freeport.
On Saturday, Nassau teams who two big inter-sectional tilts with Garden City defeating Ward Melville of Suffolk 8-7 in and Cold Spring Harbor pulling out a thrilling victory over Rye of Section I by the same score as well. Both games went to overtime and Stevie Finnell and Alex Bauer were the heroes for their respective schools. Calhoun continued their winning ways beating Lynbrook 14-1 and Port Washington defeated Long Beach 15-11 by way of a huge second half and six points from Richmond-bound Luke Meyer.
