Saturday Review

Saturday featued nine games on the schedule with all of the contests of the non-league variety. Both Hicksville and Massapequa lost to out-of-section teams and both Great Neck squads picked up big wins.


Lynbrook 14, Mepham 8: Anthony Capitali scored four goals and had an assist for Lynbrook (5-4) in non-league. Bennet Voltano and Max Dantona each had three goals and an assist for the Owls. Mepham was led by Owen Heller's 3 goals and a goal and two assists from Devin Greene. The Pirates are 2-7. 

Haldane 16, Hicksville 11: James Kelly had seven points (4g-3a) to lead Hicksville (4-4) in a 16-11 non-league loss to Haldane of Section I. Frederick Giovanelli made 15 saves for the Comets and Jesse Brentrewicz chipped in with three goals and an assist. Liam Gaugler (3g-4a) and Evan Giaginta (5g-1a) combined for 13 points for Haldane (7-2). 

Mt. Sinai 15, Massapequa 6: Patrick Radomski led the Chiefs (4-5) with two goals and two assists in their non-league loss at Mt. Sinai.  Matt Jannotte made 12 saves for Massapequa.  Lucas LaForge and Cole Marsala each had four goals and three assists and Jake Spallina had four goals and an assist for Mount Sinai (9-0). 

Freeport 15, West Hempstead 5: The Red Devils (7-2) were led by a trio of high scorers in their non-league win. Alec Bastien (4g-5a), Matthew Drayton (3g-3a), and Caleb Mann (4g) accounted for 19 of Freeport's 26 total points. Dan Clark made 23 saves for West Hempstead (3-5) and Gavin Lee had two goals and two assists.

Lawrence 10, Valley Stream 7: Kody Kirchner had four goals and five assists for Lawrence (5-6) in non-league. Goalie Amari Elliott had 24 saves in the victory for the Golden Tornadoes. Stephen Pulsifer had four goals for Valley Stream (1-9). 

Great Neck North 18, Hempstead 9: Daniel Perlman had nine goals and three assists and Eden Hakami totaled 13 points by way of five goals and eight assists for Great Neck North in non-league. The Blazers are now 4-2. Hempstead's Ja'Mir Andrews had five goals in the loss. The Tigers fell to 4-5 with the loss. 

Great Neck South 17, Uniondale 3: George Toumbekis had six goals to lead Great Neck South (5-2) in non-league. Nine players scored goals for the Rebels. Yoendy Torres scored two goals for the Knights (0-11). 

Roslyn 15, Herricks 4: Alex Gatto and Spencer Cymbler each scored four goals to lead Roslyn (7-1) in non-league. Gatto had five assists to total nine ponts in the win. Jacob Goldberg made 13 saves in the win for the Bulldogs. Joey Chimenti had two goals and an assist for Herricks (2-7). 

Friends Academy 13, Malverne/East Rockaway 3: The Quakers improved to 4-3 thanks to four goals and three assists from Will Bystrom. Clark Beard added three goals for Friends. Malverne/East Rockaway is 2-6.
