In Memoriam: Vincent Alleva

Vincent AllevaThe Nassau County Lacrosse Coaches Association would like to extend our condolences to the family of Mr. Vincent Alleva, who passed away suddenly on Friday, April 28, 2023. Mr. Alleva was an long-standing lacrosse and football official in Nassau County.  At the Woodstick Classic on Saturday, Garden City Athletic Director Eduardo Ramirez read the following tribute to Mr. Alleva prior to the game:

...let us take a moment to remember and honor Mr. Vincent Alleva, a member of the Nassau County football and lacrosse official’s associations who dedicated his time and passion to ensuring fair play and sportsmanship on the field. Mr. Alleva was scheduled to officiate today’s Woodstick Classic, which would have been his first, an honor he was extremely proud of.

Mr. Alleva's impact went far beyond his role as a referee. He was a mentor, a friend, and a role model to countless young athletes, teaching them the value of hard work, integrity, and respect. He believed in the power of sports to bring people together, to teach important life lessons, and to build character.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Alleva, and our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Let us take a moment of silence to honor his memory and reflect on the many ways in which he made a positive impact on our communities. May his legacy inspire us to strive for excellence, to treat others with kindness and respect, and to always uphold the values that he embodied.

KEEP IN MIND

Lacrosse seems to be a sport of the future. Maybe it's even become the sport of the now.
