Manhasset Claims Third Straight Nassau C Crown

Top seeded Manhasset (18-1) defeated Wantagh 15-9 to earn their third straight Nassau Class C championship today at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium. Faceoff wizard Cal Girard was named game MVP after winning 21 of 24 faceoffs for the Indians, the defending NYS Class C champions.

Wantagh (13-6) the #2 seed, led 3-2 after the first quarter and trailed 8-7 after three quarters of play. But Manhasset exploded for seven fourth quarter goals to put the game out of reach. Leading the charge for the Indians was Jack Petersen with five goals and an assist, Liam Connor with four goals and an assist, Aidan Haggerty with two goals and three assists, and Matt Carguilo with a goal and four assists.

Jake Martini scored three goals for the Warriors and goaltender Kyle Conklin made nine saves. The seven goals in the fourth by Manhasset tied a Nassau County championship game record for goals in a quarter.  Manhasset advances to the Long Island Class C championship on Saturday where they will face Shoreham-Wading River (14-5) at 10:00 am at Stony Brook University.
