Saturday Roundup- Garden City, Farmingdale Win Big Non-League Matchups

Both Garden City and Farmingdale won big non-league matchups on Saturday, April 6th. The Trojans improved their overall record to 4-2 with a 9-3 victory over visiting Ward Melville. Garden City has now won three straight games against the Patriots who, who are now 3-2 on the season. Carson Kraus and Andrew Ottomanelli each scored two goals and an each had an assist, and Denis Fargione made 10 saves for Garden City. Luke Cascadden (4-6) and Brayden Robertiello (6-9) combined to win 10 of 15 faceoffs and the Garden City defense held Ward Melville to one second half goal.
Farmingdale (4-2) defeated visiting Christian Brothers Academy (NJ) 4-3 in overtime, thanks to an unassisted goal by Brendan O'Keefe. which came after JJ Damo had won the faceoff to start the extra period. CBA (2-1) had scored with thirty seconds left to tie the game at 3. Jimmy Caputo made 16 saves for the Dalers and Sal Posillico had a goal and an assist. Kevin Renneisen and 8th-grader Jack Watrous scored the other goals for Farmingdale. [ BOX SCORE] 

In other non-league games:

East Meadow 12, West Hempstead 2
East Meadow improved to 4-3 with the non-league woth over West Hempstead. Jack Caracciola (2g-5a), Bryan Tauber (3g-3a), and Thomas Primrose (3g-0a) were the leading scorers for the Jets. Kayden Nuzzi scored both goals for the Rams (1-5).   [ BOX SCORE] 

In Conference B:

Sewanhaka 7, Elmont 5
Steven Ortiz and Lucas Lievano each scored two goals to lead Sewanhaka over Elmont. Ortiz also added an assist to his scoring total. Justin Andrews made 13 saves in goal for the Indians (2-3) and  Cristian Esquvivel won 8 of 11 faceoffs. Tayshaun Powell had a goal and three assists for Elmont (0-4).

New Hyde Park 13, Jericho 12 OT
Aidan Garvey scored an unassisted goal in overtime to win the game for New Hyde Park (3-2). Garvey (3g, 3a) split two defenders while the Gladiators were man down in the overtime period to score the game-winner. Cody McLean scored seven goals for New Hyde Park. Jericho (5-2) received two goals and three assists from Jack Person and three goals and two assists from Josh Rubin. Tyler Chawla added four tallies for the Jayhawks.    [ BOX SCORE] 

Mepham 16, Division Avenue 8
Mepham (4-2) junior attackman Alessandro Walaitis scored six goals to lead the Pirates past Division. Anthony DiSalvo (9-12) and Braedon Kehoe (11-13) combined to win 20 of 25 faceoffs for Mepham, who led 12-2 at halftime. Angel Gil and Timothy Stanley each cored two goals for Division (2-3) and Cristian Barone made 21 saves in goal.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Long Beach 12, Great Neck South 3
Maverick Chernoff (1g-4a), freshman attackman Cian Donaghy (2g-1a), and Luke Hartman (1g-2a) were the leading scorers for Long Beach (3-1) as eleven different players registered a point for the Marines. Michael Azatyan, Max Levinson. and Edwin Serpas were the goal scorers for Great Neck South (2-3). [ BOX SCORE] 

Calhoun 17, Glen Cove 2
Calhoun  improved to 7-0 with a road victory at Glen Cove. Braden Garvey (3g-2a), Jake Condela (3g-2a), and Harley Finkelstein (3g-1a) were the leading scorers for the Colts, who saw 14 players register a point in the game. Ben Conger-Kielbasa (2a), and Nick Ladeairous (2g) produced both of the goals for Glen Cove (2-4). [ BOX SCORE] 

Carey 9, MacArthur 2
Carey took the road win over MacArthur thanks to five goals by junior attackman Chris Obertis (5g-0a). Rich Metzger made eight saves, Christian Todaro had a goal and two assists and Will Tolliver scored twice for the Seahawks (4-1).  Connor Larkin and Ryan Fitzgerald (1g-0a) were the goal scorers for the Generals (3-3).  [ BOX SCORE] 

In Conference A:

Oceanside 8, Herricks 4
Michael Madden had a goal and three assists to lead Oceanside (4-1) past visiting Herricks. Sailor netminders Declan Costello and Sam Feldbaum each made seven saves in the win. Troy Madden (1g, 3a) and Tommy Gaudio (3g, 1a) were the leading scorers for the Highlanders (3-3). Freshman goalie Ayden Khan made 14 saves in the loss.    [ BOX SCORE]
