O`Keefe, Aughavin Help the Archers Win PLL Champio...2024 Season Review...South Side, Cold Spring Harbor Win NYS Titles...
Cold Spring Harbor defeated Marcellus 12-7 to win the Seahawks third consecutive NYS Class D championship on Saturday, June 8th at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium. Cold Spring Harbor had a dominant playoff run, outscoring opponents 54-25 en route to the title. The Seahawks finished the season with a record of 14-6 and have won seven overall state championships, six of them coming in the past nine seasons!
South Side finished their magical season with a incredible come-from-behind 12-11 overtime victory over Victor of Section Five on Saturday June 8th at Shuart Stadium. Cole DiPietro's goal gave the Cyclones their 21st victory and the NYS Class B championship, the second in school history. Michael Melkonian won 17 of 27 faceoffs and Michael Aiello totaled six points (three goals, three assists) in the final for South Side, who only lost once during the season, finishing with a record of 21-1.
With the two championships in 2024, Nassau has now won at least one NYS title in every season since 2009. This level of success in the state tournament has never been seen before, with Nassau having a champion in each of the last 14 consecutive seasons and 16 years overall (there were no championships played in 2020 and 2021).
Great champions have an enormous sense of pride.
