Wantagh Breaks Playoff Records
Top seeded in Class C, the Wantagh Warriors broke several Nassau playoff records in their quarterfinal victory over Island Trees. Wantagh (13-3) scored 24 goals, the most ever in a Nassau playoff game, breaking the record of 23 that had been held by Manhasset and Garden City since 2021. In the first half, Wantagh scored 18 goals, breaking the record of 17 that Garden City had set in 1993. Additionally, the 11 goals that Wantagh scored in the first quarter were also a record, surpassing the 10 that had been scored several times, most recently by Garden City in 2000.
Individually, senior attackman Devin Paccione had 11 assists, breaking the record of nine that had been set by Elmont's Jim Zaffuto in 1977. Paccione added a goal to give him 12 points in the game, tying the record of 12 set by Vincent Marinelli of Elmont in 1985. Paccione continues his personal assault on the Nassau record books with 357 career points (7th all time), 219 career assists (4th all-time), and 120 points this season (top 20 all-time).
