Semifinal Matchups For Wednesday, May 27th
Class B
#5 Roslyn (13-4) vs #1 Garden City (16-1), 3:30 pm
Garden City has spent most of the season as the top-ranked public school team nationally in several polls. The Trojans are averaging over 14 goals a game and almost 70% of their goals are assisted. Senior Charlie Koester (69 points), junior Anthony Asaro (39 points) and sophomores Ben Smith (66 points) and Jeff Finnell (48 points) are the leading scorers. The faceoff battle between the Trojans Brayden Robertiello (79%) and Roslyn's Ethan Goldberg (85%) should be a good one. The Bulldog's will counter with senior Josh Berger and junior Gavin Ryback, attackmen who both have 88 points this season.
Class C
#5 North Shore (8-9) vs #1 Wantagh (13-3), 5:30 pm
North Shore upset #4 Plainedge on Friday to earn the right to play top-seeded Wantagh at Hofstra. The Warriors have the top scorer this season on Long Island in senior attackman Devin Paccione who has 120 points this season and 357 in his career. Containing Paccione and teammates Luke Martini (54 goals), Matthe Giacobello (44 goals), and Joe Nicholson (43 goals) will be a tall task for North Shore, as Wantagh averages a county-best 15 goals per game. The Vikings are led by junior Anthony Cimino (43 goals) and senior Angelo Anobile (54 points).
Class A
#4 Farmingdale (11-6) vs #1 Syosset (15-2), 7:30 pm
The regular season game betwen these two teams went to overtime, with the Braves coming out on top, 10-9. Syosset was 18-18 over the last two seasons but have had a breakout season with 15 wins and were undefeated against Class A competition. Senior Brody Waxer crossed the 300 point mark in his five year career last week and has 55 goals this spring. Waxer and fellow senior Giovanni Accardo (69 points) are a tough 1-2 combo to match up against. Farmingdale can defend one of the Syosset stars with senior defenseman Michael Galgano, the county leader in caused turnovers with 75. The Dalers will need a strong peformance from their leaging scorer, Sean Schumeyer (48 points), to advance to their fourth Nassau final this decade.
