Nassau Championship Previews

CLASS B
#2 Manhasset (14-4) vs. #1 Garden City (17-1)

Monday, June 1st, 2026
5:30 pm at Hofstra
This Season: Garden City, 14-6 on May 2nd
All-Time: Manhasset, 77-67
Nassau Championships: Garden City, 29; Manhasset 22
These two all-time rivals meet in the Nassau championship for the 13th time with Garden City leading the championship matches 11-2. Stopping the Trojans starts at the faceoff X where junior Brayden Robertiello (230 wins, 77%) has dominated all season. Garden City has several top offensive threats with Charlie Koester (73 points), Ben Smith (71), Jeff Finnell (52), and Anthony Asaro (41). Defender Andrew Dengler usually erases the opponents top offensive threat for coach Steve Finnell (321 wins). Manhasset is strong defensively, allowing only six goals per game. Michael DePietro and Kyp Zacharia are a tough defensive combo for coach Nick Armstrong, who is in his first season after replacing Keith Cromwell.  Freshman William Mondiello leads 'Set with 40 goals and is part of a youthful offensive group that has five underclassmen with more than 15 goals each.

CLASS C
#2 South Side (12-6) vs. #1 Wantagh (14-3)

Monday, June 1st, 2026
7:30 pm at Hofstra
This Season: Wantagh, 14-6 on April 22nd
All-Time: Each team has 15 wins!
Nassau Championships: Wantagh 3; South Side 2
High scoring Wantagh is trying to win their third straight Class C championship and faces a South Side squad that won a NYS Class B championship in 2024. The Warriors, led by coach James Polo, feature senior attackman Devin Paccione who leads Nassau in assists (85) and points (125). Paccione has 362 career points, good for 6th all-time in Nassau history. His passes find their way to several talented scorers led by Luke Martini (58 goals), Joe Nicholson (49), and Matthew Giacobello (43). South Side appears to be peaking at the right time, having won six of their last seven games. The Cyclones will need big games from junior goaltender Jack DiSarlo (163 saves) and classmate FOGO Alec Notaro (241 wins, 73%) to hang with the high-scoring Warriors. Coach Steve DiPietro (210 wins) is a savy veteran and should have his team ready to compete.

CLASS D
#2 Locust Valley (11-6) vs. #1 Cold Spring Harbor (14-3)

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026
5:30 pm at Hofstra
This Season: Cold Spring Harbor, 16-3 on April 23rd
All-Time: Cold Spring Harbor, 35-4
Nassau Championships: Locust Valley 0; Cold Spring Harbor 16
All discussions about Class D in Nassau revolve around Cold Spring Harbor who is led by the active Nassau coaching wins leader in Dennis Bonn (382 wins). Since moving to Class D, the Seahawks have won four straight Nassau titles and three NYS titles. CSH is strong "up the middle" with goaltender Matt Kammer and FOGO Alex Vitale. These juniors are experienced players who receive help offensively from classmates Roy Testa (44 goals) and Colby Koeningsberger (43 assists). For Locust Valley and coach Tom Duggan, 2026 has been the second straight season with 11 victories and they are returning to the championship game for a second straight year. Freshman James Fox leads the Falcons with 76 points and sophomore Grayson Iannotti is already a three-year starter with 556 career saves.

CLASS A
#2 Massapequa (15-3) vs. #1 Syosset (16-2)

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026
7:30 pm at Hofstra
This Season: Syosset, 13-12 OT, on May 15th
All-Time: Massapequa, 46-16
Nassau Championships: Massapequa 12; Syosset 6
The last of the four championships in Nassau, Class A features two teams who are very familiar with each other in championship games. They have met seven times in the A championship, with the Chiefs holding a slim 4-3 advantage. The Braves, led by veteran coach John Calabria (303 wins) are having their best season since 2021 when they last won the Nassau title. Five-year starter Brody Waxer (300 career points) leads a Syosset offense along with fellow senior Giovanni Accardo (74 points). The Braves play an aggressive zone defense that leans on goaltender Josh Weisenfeld (196 saves) who has had a strong senior season. Massapequa has perhaps the best attack on Long Island with senior Tyler Byrnes (65 points) and juniors Rooco Spallina (77 goals) and Nolan Wieczorek (110 points). Junior Ryan Chabus (240 wins) has been strong at the faceoff X for coach Kevin Catalano who leads a squad that is averaging 16 gaols per game.
