MASSAPEQUA REPEATS AS CLASS A CHAMPIONS
#2 seed Massapequa dominated top seeded Syosset by the score of 19-5 to win their second straight Nassau Class A title. The Chiefs were led by their all-star attack unit of Nolan Wieczorek (3g-5a), Tyler Byrnes (5g-1a), and Rocco Spallina (6g-1a) who combined for 14 goals and 7 assists on the night. Junior Ryan Chabus won 18 of 26 faceoffs for Massapequa (16-3) who outshot Syosset 41-20 and led 11-2 at halftime. The Massapequa goal total of 19 is the second-most ever scored in a Nassau championship game, tying the 2008 Syosset squad and one less than the record of 20 that East Meadow scored in 1972. Massapequa will face Suffolk champion Sachem North on Saturday at Stony Brook University in the Long Island Championship at 5:30 pm. Syosset finishes the season with a record of 16-3.
