Historical Notes: Senior midfielder Charlie Caliendo's second goal, in the second sudden death overtime period, gave Manhasset their first Long Island Championship since 1967 with a 9-8 victory over Ward Melville (17-2). Manhasset led 7-5 to start the fourth quarter, but when Stewart Fisher scored his fifth goal of the game with 3:34 left, the score was tied at 7. Attackman Nick Rae scored with four seconds left in the first overtime for Manhasset, but Tom Kelley scored off an assist from Mike Nagle with 1:20 left in the second overtime to tie the score again. Thanks to the faceoff work of John Hackett and Mike Magee, the Indians dominated possession throughout the game and had the ball again to start the second sudden death period. Caliendo's goal, off a pass from Rae, came with 1:20 left in the period in front of a crowd of over 2,750 at Hofstra.
