Friday: Port Rallies to Defeat Syosset in Conference A
Port Washington 8, Syosset 7: Down 5-1 at halftime, Port Washington outscored Syosset 6-1 in the third quarter to take a 7-6 lead into the final period. Each team tallied one goal in the fourth, which enabled the Vikings (10-4) to earn a hard-fought, comeback victory over Syosset (10-6) in Conference A. Luke Meyer led Port with two goals and two assists and John McCarthy added two goals and one assist. [ BOX SCORE]
Bellmore Kennedy 18, Great Neck North 12: Joe Battaglia (5g-2a) and Max Zaransky (3g-3a) were the high scorers for Bellmore Kennedy (8-7) in their Conference B victory over Great Neck North (9-6). Ben Greco made nine saves in goal for the winners. Daniel Perlman had five goals and two assists for the Blazers and teammate Eden Hakami had five goals. Clarke 16, Malverne/East Rockaway 10: Justin Somyak had nine points (5g-4a) for Clarke (10-5) in Conference C/D. Teammates Lucas Barsuaskas (5g), Gabe Cobham (3g-2a), and Aidan Peters (1g-4a) also had big games for the Rams, as did goalie Joseph Buffalino who made 15 saves. North Shore 13, Friends Academy 6: Leading 7-4 at halftime, North Shore outscored Friends Academy (8-6) 5-0 in the third quarter to seal the victory for the Vikings (8-8). Cole Gibstein won 16 of 18 faceoffs for North Shore and had three goals and two assists, and Jack Kaufman added two goals and five assists. [ BOX SCORE]
South Side 13, MacArthur 5: Michael Melkonian had a goal, two assists, and won 15 of 18 faceoffs for South Side (11-4) in Conference B.
