Wednesday: Floral Park and W/CP Win

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were seven games played today and although three were mismatches, two were won by one or two goals. Wheatley/Carle Place waited until the last quarter to score four goals including the game winner by Blake Lyons with 2:11 left to give the Wildfrogs their opening day win over Baldwin. Floral Park used three goals in the last stanza to take the lead and then beat Herricks 8-6. Bethpage freshman midfielder James Lipetri scored his first Varsity goal and Ryan Dupre added 2g-1a for the Golden Eagles (2-0). Also winning today were Roslyn, Island Trees, Calhoun and Bellmore JFK.

Mepham vs Island TreesHEWLETT 4  - CALHOUN 16 -  Leading the scoring for Calhoun in their season opener were senior attackman Jake Lewis (5g-2a), senior midfielder Jayden Finkelstein (3g-1a), and sophomore midfielder Harley Finkelstein (3g-0a). Seven different players made the offensive book. Senior faceoff specialist Ryan Menghi won 18/3 and junior goaltender Mark Restivo, who recorded his 100th career save today went 7s/4ga = 64% in the cage.  Calhoun hosts West Babylon on Friday.  There was no report from Hewlett at post-time.  [BOX SCORE] 

BELLMORE JFK 10  - DIVISION AVE 6 -  Leading the scoring for Bellmore JFK (1-0) were seniors Max Zaransky (4g-2a), and Joe Battaglia (2g-2a), and sophomore midfielder Zach Greenseid (1g-1a).
In the goal for Bellmore JFK was senior Benjamin Greco with 12s/6ga = 67%. The Cougars beat Division Ave for the first time in nine outings.

Jake LaRocca and Ethan Sterzel recorded 2g each and Will Darvid recorded 1g-1a for Division Ave. Colin Lambert stood tall in goal with 12 saves for the Blue Dragons (0-1). [BOX SCORE] 

Mepham vs Island TreesBETHPAGE 4  - WALT WHITMAN 1 -  Leading the scoring for Bethpage (2-0) were senior offensive player Ryan Dupre (2g-1a), junior midfielder Bryce Wylie (1g-1a), and junior midfielder Jake Geller (2a). Freshman midfielder James Lipetri scored his first Varsity goal (1g-0a). There was Information available for Walt Whitman at post-time.   [BOX SCORE] 

WHEATLEY/CARLE PLACE 7  - BALDWIN 6 -  Nicky Pascarella scored the tying goal with 4:11 left in the fourth quarter and Blake Lyons scored the game winner with 2:11 left in regulations to give Wheatley/Carley Place the win. Jack Parise went 13/4 on his faceoffs. Blake Lyons led W/CP with (2g-3a) and James Demakopoulus had 7 saves including a shut out in the second half. 

Leading the scoring for Baldwin were juniors Brady Mahler (3g-2a), Aaron Bell (2g-0a), and Logan Kirchner (1g-1a). Junior goalie Othello Cook had 10 saves in his debut as the starting Varsity goalie. [BOX SCORE] 

HERRICKS 6  - FLORAL PARK 8 -  Floral Park used three goals in the last stanza to take the lead and then beat Herricks 8-6.  There was no reports from either team.   [BOX SCORE] 

Mepham vs Island TreesISLAND TREES 16  - MEPHAM 5 -  Leading the scoring for Island Trees (1-0) were junior attackmen Kian McCoy (5g-1a), John Echezuria (3g-2a) and Kevin Dromm (3g-2a), while sophomore midfielder Joseph Filocamo added (2g-1a). Winning face offs for Island Trees was junior Luke Forde with 17/5.  

Leading the scoring for Mepham (0-1) were junior attacker Liam Williams (3g), sophomore midfielder Owen Heller (2g-0a), and junior midfielder James Henningson (1g-0a).   [BOX SCORE] 

ROSLYN 17  - LI LUTHERAN 11 -  Leading the scoring for Roslyn (1-0) were seniors Alex Gatto (6g-4a) and Max Smith (4g-2a). Sophomore midfielder Spencer Cymbler added (3g-2a) for Roslyn who will host Locust Valley on Friday.  There was Information for Lutheran at post-time.  [BOX SCORE]
