Wednesday: Manhasset Wins Opener, GC Downs Syosset

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - With sixteen games on tap, Wednesday, March 29 was one of the busiest days of the season so far.

Manhasset 5, South Side 1: The Indians led 3-0 at half and held South Side to one second half tally in a 5-1 non-league win. Leading the scoring for Manhasset (1-0) were senior midfielder Matt Cargiulo (1g-1a), senior attackman Liam Connor (1g-1a), senior midfielder Aidan Haggerty (1g-0a), junior midfielder Michael Mondiello (1g-0a), and sophomore attackman Daniel Kolin (1g-0a). Manhasset junior Matthew Im finished with 11 saves to earn the win. South Side (2-1) senior attackman Ryan Mayerhofer scored their lone goal and Tommy Gentile made 11 saves in goal.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Garden City 11, Syosset 8: Jack Archer had 3 goals and 2 assists and Stevie Finnell had 4 goals for Garden City (1-1). The Trojans Henry Gibbons added two goals and two assists. For Syosset (0-2), Brody Waxer had four goals and two assists. Garden City will play Ward Melville on Saturday, while the Braves will play LI Lutheran on Friday.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Wantagh 13, Kellenberg 9: The Warrios scored ten second-half goals to down Kellenberg in non-league action. Freshman Devin Paccione had three goals and one assist, while Jake Martini tallied four times and Antony Tsakos scored three goals for Wantagh 2-1). Kyle Conklin made 12 saves in goal. [ BOX SCORE] 

Oceanside 16, Bellmore JFK 3: In the second and third quarters,  Oceanside went on a 10-1 run to earn a 16-3 win over Bellmore Kennedy. Nicky Cairo and Andrew Piccola each scored 3 goals and had 1 assist. Jake Perrinchief had 2 goals and 2 assists, while Cole Parker won 17 of 20 faceoffs. Coach Kevin Anderson earned his first win as Oceanside head coach.  Kennedy goaltender Ben Greco made 14 saves in the loss.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Hicksville 13, East Meadow 2:  JT Kelly led Hicksville with 3 goals and 2 assists. Mike Gilbert and Frank Barravechia each had three goals for the Comets. Peter Agapito was 15 for 15 on faceoffs with 9 ground balls. There was no report from East Meadow (0-1) at post-time.    [ BOX SCORE] 

Plainview JFK 12, Uniondale 1: Leading the scoring for Plainview JFK (2-1) were senior midfielder Andrew Greenbaum (1g-4a), freshman midfielder Alex Kantrowitz (2g-1a), senior midfielder Dillon Josen (1g-2a), and freshman attackman Josef Saueracker (3g-0a)
In goal for Plainview JFK was senior Sam Erlich with seven saves. There was no report from Uniondale (0-2) at post-time.

Baldwin 14, Hempstead 3: The Bruins (1-2) were led by junior A/M Brady Mahler (6g-3a), junior attackman Jake Davidson (0g-4a), and junior attackman Paul Clement (2g-0a). Goalie Adrian Beltre had 18 saves in goal for Hempstead.    [ BOX SCORE] 

Freeport 11, Valley Stream 4: Matthew Drayton scored four goals and added two assists for the Red Devils (2-1)
There was no report from Valley Stream (0-3) at post-time.    [ BOX SCORE] 

Mepham 16, Division Avenue 6: Sophomores Owen Heller and Alessandro Walaitis. each had five goals and two assists for Mepham (1-1). Leading the scoring for Division Ave (0-3) was junior midfielder Jake Larocca (2g-0a), and junior midfielder Ethan Sterzel (2g-0a).    [ BOX SCORE]

Jericho 14, Elmont 5: Leading the scoring for Jericho (1-2) was senior attackman Jackson Gingold (5g-2a), junior attackman Jack Person (3g-2a), and senior A/M Nicholas Polizotto (2g-2a).   14 saves were made by Julius Sylvian-Jenkins of Elmont.  [ BOX SCORE]

New Hyde Park 15, Great Neck North 5: Aidan Garvey led New Hyde Park (2-0) with 7 goals and four assists. Peter Lener added four goals and one assist.    [ BOX SCORE]

Great Neck South 13, Sewanhaka 4: Senior midfielder George Toumbekis (3g-3a), sophomore midfielder Edwin Serpas (3g-2a), senior attackman Peter Hlampeas (1g-4a), and senior midfielder Nate Gorenstein (3g-1a) led Great Neck South in the win. For Sewanhaka (0-3) freshman attackman AJ Ayau scored three goals. [ BOX SCORE]

Locust Valley 15, Lawrence 3:  The Falcons (1-1) were junior A/M Conner Terrell (1g-3a), junior midfielder Owen Hickey (3g-1a), and junior Shane Pollard (3g-0a). Lawrence netminder Amari Elliott made 27 saves in the loss.     [ BOX SCORE]

Chaminade 15, Massapequa 9: Massapequa (0-3) was led by senior attackman Michael Durnin (4g-1a), senior midfielder Aidan Christie (1g-2a), and senior midfielder William Birney (2g-0a). Matt Jannotte made 12 saves in goal for the Chiefs.  [ BOX SCORE] 

Plainedge 14, Floral Park 1: Leading the scoring for Plainedge (1-1) were senior attackman Braden Donnellan (3g-2a), senior M/A Travis Acquilino (4g-0a), and senior attackman Caden Morra (1g-2a).    [ BOX SCORE]

Seaford 12, North Shore 11, OT: North Shore was led by Sawyer DeSeve and Luca Korte who both scored 3 goals and had 1 assist apiece. In goal for North Shore, senior Andrew Fabiilli made 14 saves.  There was no report from Seaford (2-1) at post-time.
